Vice President Election 2025: Stir in Maharashtra, BJP's identity bet and Uddhav's silence

There has been a stir in Maharashtra politics regarding Vice President Election 2025. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has contacted big leaders to garner support for its NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has spoken to NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray.

BJP's Maharashtra identity bet

Fadnavis has appealed to the opposition leaders that since CP Radhakrishnan is a voter of Maharashtra, they should support the NDA candidate on the basis of 'Maharashtra identity'. This move of BJP can become a challenge for the opposition camp.

Sharad Pawar said in the conversation that he will have to support the opposition candidate, but Uddhav Thackeray has not directly denied and said that he will consider it.

Will Uddhav Thackeray give a shock to the opposition?

Shiv Sena (UBT) is currently a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra and India Block at the Center. India Block has nominated former Supreme Court judge Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy in this election. Despite this, Uddhav Thackeray's statement of "think and tell" can come as a surprise for the opposition.

It is also worth noting that senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has already praised NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan.

Vice President election date and equation

Voting for Vice President Election 2025 will be held on September 9. All the MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will vote in this election. Whips are not issued by the parties, so there is a possibility of cross voting.

Based on numerical equations, this time the victory of NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan is considered almost certain. The ruling party has more MPs than the opposition, which strengthens their position.
