A Panchayat meeting held in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand became the center of controversy when the altercation between the village head and a rural youth took a violent turn. Soon both the sides started kicking and punching and the Panchayat Pradhan's nephew also got injured in this quarrel. This incident is from Mohammadpur Kunari village of Laksar police station area.
Dispute in Panchayat meeting
According to the information, a review meeting of development works and higher pension scheme was organized in the Panchayat office. Panchayat members and Gram Vikas Adhikari were present in this meeting. The meeting was held only for the Panchayat representatives, but during this time some villagers also reached there.
The village head requested the villagers to stay out, to which a youth from the village objected. The dispute escalated and the altercation turned into a fight. The tension increased so much that the meeting had to be postponed midway. After the meeting was over, there was a clash again between the Pradhan and the youth outside, due to which both sides started kicking and punching.
The youth accused the Pradhan of attacking him
After the incident, the youth lodged a complaint in Sultanpur police station accusing the village head and his supporters of attacking him. The youth says that the Pradhan along with his people attacked him.
At the same time, the village head says that the youth obstructed government work during the meeting and threw the Panchayat register. The Pradhan alleged that this youth often creates obstacles in Panchayat work and misbehaves with the officials.
Panchayat Secretary gave information
Gram Panchayat Secretary Khem Singh Negi also confirmed the allegations of the Pradhan and said that the youth had scuffled in the meeting. At the same time, outpost in-charge Virendra Singh Negi said that the complaint of the youth has been registered, but no written complaint has been given by the Pradhan or Panchayat Secretary so far. Police said that further action will be taken only after receiving the complaint.
