Sarzameen Movie Review

Sarzameen Movie Review 2025: If you want to watch a great mix of patriotism and suspense along with an emotional family drama, then 'Sarzameen' can be a perfect choice for you. Released today, 25 July 2025, on JioCinema/Hotstar, this film has forced the audience to think.

The story of the film is set in the beautiful but sensitive valleys of Kashmir, and it is not just a patriotic story, but also closely opens the layers of a family, especially the relationship between a father and son.

Strong cast and first time direction by Kayoj Irani

The director of this film is Kayoj Irani, who is the son of Boman Irani and this is his first film. The film stars:

  • Prithviraj Sukumaran (Vijay Menon – Army Officer)

  • Kajol (Meher Menon – Mother)

  • Ibrahim Ali Khan (Harman aka Haris – Son)

This is Ibrahim Ali Khan's second film, but the confidence with which he has played his character is commendable.

Story: When a father is stuck between country and son

The film begins with Vijay Menon, an army officer posted in Kashmir. Patriotism runs in his blood. His family consists of wife Meher and son Harman. Harman has a stammering problem since childhood, due to which his confidence remains low.

The story takes a twist when Vijay comes to know about the plan of a terrorist group. In an operation, he catches two terrorists, but then his son Harman is kidnapped. In return, the terrorists demand the release of both of them.

Vijay is standing at a difficult juncture where he has to choose – country or his son. His dialogue “Nothing is greater than the safety of the land” gives you goosebumps.

But then Harman comes back after 8 years, now he has become Haris. His stammering is gone, his lifestyle has changed. Now the question arises – is he still with his country or with the terrorists?

What is special? Why should one watch ‘Sarzameen’?

1. Locations and cinematography

Swapnil Sonawane has captured the beauty of Kashmir in a wonderful way. The visual quality of the film is excellent.

2. Performance

  • Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character of an army officer is strong.

  • Kajol has played the role of a mother very honestly. Her emotional performance touches the heart.

  • Ibrahim Ali Khan has very well shown the journey from a boy struggling with stammering to a suspicious “changed” person.

3. Music and background score

Vishal Mishra's music makes the film even better. There are only two songs in the film:

  • "Mere Murshid Mere Yaara" – a beautiful qawwali

  • "Aaj Ruk Ja" – an emotional song that shows the pain of a mother and son

4. A new kind of narrative

The film shows the Kashmir issue not just from the perspective of terrorism, but from an emotional and family angle. It has action, but also has layers of heart-touching relationships.

Weak links of the film

  • One or two scenes end too early as per the script, making them seem impossible or rushed.

  • The process of Harman's name changing to Haris could have been shown more clearly.

  • Some viewers may find the suspense track of the film a bit stretched.

Conclusion: Should you watch this film?

According to Sarzameen Movie Review 2025, this film is not just action or patriotism, but a story of deep family pain and struggle.

If you like movies that:

  • touch your heart

  • have real emotions and a strong story

  • and that show patriotism combined with humanity

then definitely watch ‘Sarzameen’.

This movie is available on OTT, so you can watch it at home with your family and be a part of this emotional journey.
