Some technical flaws and disruptions were reported during the first phase of voting for the Panchayat elections in Assam on 3 May 2025. After this, the Commission decided to conduct re-polling so that a fair and transparent election process could be ensured. In such a situation, the process of Assam Panchayat Election 1st Phase Re Poll was adopted at a total of 44 polling stations.
These 44 polling stations with re-polling were spread across 5 districts of Assam. The details are as follows:
Hailakandi: 32 polling stations
Shreebhumi: 8 polling stations
Lakhimpur: 2 polling stations
Golaghat: 1 polling station
Majuli: 1 polling station

Assam Panchayat Election 1st Phase Re Poll recorded 78.10 per cent polling, which is considered to be very encouraging. In the first phase of the main voting held on Friday, 70.2 per cent polling was recorded in 14 districts.
The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) took special vigilance regarding the re-polling. Tight security arrangements were made in all the districts and the re-polling was conducted fairly with the cooperation of the local administration. The statement issued by the Commission said,
"According to the data received from the District Commissioners, the total estimated percentage of re-polling was 78.10. The voting process was peaceful at all polling stations."
Assam Panchayat Election 1st Phase Re Poll is an important step in the democratic system. When the main election is not fair due to any reason, re-polling becomes a reliable option. This also maintains the confidence of the voters and ensures transparency of the election system.
More than 78% voting shows that people in rural areas are now more aware of their participation than before. This also gives a positive sign for the upcoming phases. If such awareness and fairness remains in the upcoming phases, then Panchayat Elections 2025 will play an important role in deciding the direction of the state's development.
Assam Panchayat Election 1st Phase Re Poll has strengthened the democratic structure of Assam. More than 78 percent voting in this re-poll conducted peacefully proved that the people of the state are aware and responsible about their participation in local governance. Due to the active role of the Election Commission and the administration, this process was successful, which will set an example for the coming phases.
