Crack in NDA before UP Panchayat Elections - Nishad and Subhaspa will also contest Panchayat elections alone

Preparations for UP Panchayat Chunav 2026 are in full swing and expected to be held on January-February 2026. But even before this, news of a rift in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has started coming to the fore. Earlier Anupriya Patel's party Apna Dal (S) had announced to contest the elections alone, and now Nishad Party and Subhaspa (SBSP) have also adopted the same path.

The Panchayat level elections in Uttar Pradesh may be local, but their impact is deep on the politics of the state. Especially when the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are also to be held in 2027. In such a situation, all the regional parties have started preparing for the UP Panchayat elections.

During a press conference in Prayagraj, Union Minister and Apna Dal (S) chief Anupriya Patel said that every party worker will be given full opportunity to contest the Panchayat elections. She clarified that so far there has been no alliance talks with the NDA, so the party will contest on its own.

She also said that party workers are preparing to contest elections for all posts like Gram Panchayat, Ward Member, District Panchayat Member. The organization is strengthening its hold up to the booth level.

Announcement of Nishad Party and SBSP also

Nishad Party chief and state government minister Sanjay Nishad said in an interview that his party will contest the UP Panchayat elections on its own. Similarly, Subhaspa national general secretary Arun Rajbhar also announced that his party will contest the elections alone.

Both these parties are currently part of the Yogi government, but they have chosen a different path for the Panchayat elections.

Questions on NDA unity

With the three allies – Apna Dal (S), Nishad Party and Subhaspa – contesting separately, questions have been raised on the unity of the NDA. This could be a warning bell for the BJP, because if these parties perform strongly, they can also demand more seats in the upcoming assembly elections.

Strategy to put pressure on BJP?

Political experts believe that this move can also be a strategy to put pressure on the BJP. If these parties come in a good position in the panchayat elections, their demands may increase in the 2027 assembly elections and 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Apart from this, fighting alone will give opportunities to party workers, which will strengthen the organization at the grassroots level. When the workers are strong, the party's support base will also increase.

Why are UP Panchayat elections 2026 important?

The results of the panchayat elections can decide the direction of the upcoming elections.

Smaller parties are looking at this as a big opportunity to strengthen their support base.

This could be a sign for BJP that the allies now want to show their strength.

🔍 Conclusion: Will NDA disintegrate?

The way NDA allies are announcing their separation one by one before UP Panchayat Chunav 2026, it is clear that the strength of the alliance is no longer the same as before. If BJP is not able to keep these parties together in time, then its effect can be clearly seen in the assembly elections to be held in 2027.
